Poem

The Thanks I Owe To You

Many rough years we go through

Up, down, over and new;

And no matter how many years it is I’ve known you-

It is thanks I owe to you.

There are many stories about me and you;

From the deserts of Africa to the ice caps too;

From the savory cheeses in Pari-

And to any place that has fondue;

Wherever it is that we may have been;

It is thanks I owe to you.

The states of America;

And the concave parts of the Sahara;

Are not too far a part;

The Atlantic and the Pacific, the gulfs and rivers-

Have never kept you from my heart.

The future and the past, the present’s present mask;

May make me forgetful, too;

But still, nonetheless,

In this world we are blessed-

And it is thanks I owe to you.

The animals and trees-

From bees to chimpanzees,

And the majestic butterflies too;

Remind me of your name,

And remind me of myself too.

So whomever you are-

Near or far-

Happy, angered or blue;

To every one from every star-

It is thanks I owe to you.

And I hope you thank me too.
